The Greek government hopes that the tension can de-escalate betting on the tiredness of the farmers from the many days of protesting at the blockades and its promises of improvements in social security and tax reforms.

Although, the government wants to show that it is certain that the tension will de-escalate, in fact the Prime Minister worries about the political cost of the prolonged protest actions. Citizens express daily their dissatisfaction with government’s actions, ranging from jeering SYRIZA MPs to massive protest rallies.

According to information, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will meet today with Labor Minister Giorgos Katrougalos, while farmers will meet at roadblocks across the country to decide on their next moves and particularly whether they will accept government’s invitation for dialogue.
